A deep change in the way that we live requires a deep change in the way that we think. I'm Carla Reeves, and this is Differently. Hey, I'm so glad you're back. The conversation I want to have today continues from the Differently Journal. I have been shipping these out, and it makes my heart so happy every time I ship one to you. Um, God put this message on my heart so long ago of quiet your mind, listen within, and write from your heart. And as the world gets louder, this message seems to be more and more important in my life and those around me. I just heard from someone very dear to me who received the journal in their mailbox that it, coupled with the timing of other things in their life, has nudged them to do life differently, to turn away from a pattern in their life, to heal so that they can live their best life and experience more fully what God has in store. And this is the conversation I want to have with you today. I see it with my private coaching clients just about on the daily. This world wants to distract us. This world wants us to numb out the pain that we may feel inside. And we all have that on some level or another. This world wants us to stay busy with other things so that we don't have to address what's happening underneath the surface because sometimes it feels scary. Um let me ask you though, how is that going? I want to take you inside the differently journal today. Whether you go buy a copy or not, um, this is a framework inside of the journal uh that is not only for your writing, but for your life. We are living in very interesting times and the world is changing fast. And it's time that we be more awake to our inner lives. And maybe that's a conversation you've never even been a part of or thought of or been taught. But it's time that we get more responsible for tending our inner world, our thoughts, our feelings, our emotions, our soul. Um because we are in a place, I believe, that we need to fight for the light within ourselves and in our lives. Um, if you already have purchased a journal, yay, I'm so glad. And I hope that these conversations fuel your writing practice and your life. I hope the podcast is a great um companion to the journal. But I want you to remember, for those of you who maybe still are on the fence about writing, I just want to remind you this isn't about being a writer. You don't have to be a good writer. It's not about writing every day. It's not another thing to put on your to-do list. This is not homework. This is a tool for managing your mind, which is going to help you to have more freedom, creativity, and agency to manage and navigate your life on a daily, hourly basis. The framework that is in this journal is the same framework that is a baseline for everything I do inside of private coaching with a client. And you can learn to do this in your own life. And it begins with your thinking. So many of us get stuck in a survival way of thinking, and we get this kind of thinking over long term can cause us to feel resigned that this is just the way life is, this is just the way I am, and we lose hope for anything better. This is the first lie you have to address in your mind. Your survival way of thinking, and we all have one, um, is just a routine way of thinking that literally got developed, probably when you were very young, that literally helped you to survive your environment at one time. But it's also likely the very thing that is in your way of experiencing more of what you want today, whether that's feeling more peace or having fulfillment or more purpose or connection in your life, whatever it is. It's like we think that our circumstances need to change, but it's really our thinking that has to change first. And then what's awesome about that is that we can start to feel different and experience our life different without our circumstances even changing. But that's the beginning of that will all eventually ripple to your circumstances shifting, also. So just acknowledging and looking around your life and kind of asking, being curious, like, am I in a survival way of thinking or operating in my life? Like, just be curious because that may be an entry point that you've been looking for. This is where we start in coaching, and this is where we start in the guide that is in the differently journal for the reason that you must get out of survival to create something new and sustainable in your life. And your thoughts are the foundation to this. Um, writing is a way to manage, see your thoughts, and eventually invent new ways of thinking so that you can walk through this life exactly the way it is right now, with more peace of mind, even when things are hard, are noisy, and are chaotic in the outer world. God makes a way for us. He's given us innate abilities to use our minds and use our thoughts and create. Um, he met me on the pages of my journal 20 plus years ago and still does.
